Stan Mark (was a lead trumpet with the "Commodores" and post horn soloist with the U.S. Navy Band)
 

Ralph Marterie (Spent most of WWII in charge of a Navy fleet band.)
 

Ron McGranahan (Member of the US Naval Academy Band and Director of the Midshipmen Drum & Bugle Corps)

Ron Nathan (Spent four (4) years as a Navy Musician)
 

Ron Oates (Served aboard USS Kearsarge in 1964 and at NAS Pensacola from January 1965 to February 1968.)

Ken Poorman (1960-1963 was a pianist with Unit Band #194 & CINC Atlantic Fleet Band)

Frank Rehak (Was accepted to the Navy School of Music when he was 17 during WWII.)

Alvino Rey (Guitarist who was married to one of the King Sisters. He was a Navy Musician during WWII. His son, a string bassist, went through the School of Music in 1969)
 

Artie Shaw (Enlisted in the Navy after Pearl Harbor and was made a chief after boot camp. His band toured the Southwest Pacific for the next 18 months, playing up to 4 concerts a day, and seeing action several times, including Guadalcanal.)


Leonard B. Smith (He is more than an ex-Navy musician, having a big position in musical history as well. Also check out the picture of John Philip Sousa marching with his Navy Band)

John Philip Sousa (Former leader, at the age of 62, of the Great Lakes Band during WWI)
 

Jim Spence (was a member of unit band #182 from 1961 - 1964)
