Look here for inquiries about missing shipmates or requests for information about the Navy Music Program. Note: this is a moderated page. Requests should be submitted to the Webmaster, who will edit and post them, along with any responses. Generally items will be left on for 6 months.

To make it easier to check for new messages they are ordered with the most recent at the top. Thanks to Rick Holdsworth for the suggestion!

My name is Grady Oder and I would like to make contact with some of my old friends from the Navy. I attended the School of Music from the end of 1956 through the first part of 1957. I was assigned to Unit Band 155 and we went to sea. I have included a photo of a few of us that were playing a job somewhere (I can't remember where ... getting old ain't for sissies) and hope that you might have some suggestions as to how I might locate these guys. (Note from Webmaster; see photo here.) Left to right; Willie ??? (actually a trombone player), Moose Krause, Sam Self, Grady Oder, George McNabney and Charlie Kelly.

Hope you can help,

Grady Oder

Saw a friend from Newport, Roland James, had signed the guestbook. Roland served with me in the CruDesLant Band. If he is still out there I would like to hear from him. Anyone knowing his whereabouts please let me know. Thanks!

While trying to find additional historic photos for former NAS Seattle, I came across your webpage showing the Jive Bombers. Your site visitors might be interested in reading the following which we compiled a couple of years ago. Of course if anyone has historical photos of NAS Seattle it would be great to get an electronic copy!

I'm looking to find John Este, Trombone/Piano. John was in the ComOne Band Boston in the late 50's and in the Kodiak Band before that. The last time I saw him he was in the Advanced course in 1967. I heard he retired and was living in Pensacola. Fla. Anyone knowing of his whereabouts please contact me via e-mail. My address is in the NMA roster. Thanks

I'm looking for members of unit band 169. We were on the USS Albany 1950 and the USS Roanoke 1951 (circa).  We attended the Music School located in D.C. in 1949.

I am trying to locate Roger (Lump) Klinger, French horn, from Lodi, CA. Went to the school with him in 1955 in D.C. I heard he might have shipped-over in the Air Force. Sure would like to contact him.

I see a Lew Maddox as a new member. Are you by any chance the Lew Maddox I served with in Jacksonville, Florida in 1960?

(09/2007)

I would like to hear the music to Diamonds in the Sky, composed by John Fluck, my shipmate in Unit Band 182.
